Desde primera hora de la mañana, el pabellón CEM Olímpics Vall d’Hebrón acogía las mejores raquetas del torneo. Los jugadores saltaban a la pista rodeados de escolares que llenaban, en el turno de mañana y tarde, las gradas animando a sus ídolos.
En individual femenino, la española Carolina Marín sigue su paso hacia cuartos de final tras batir en dos sets a su rival de Países Bajos Soraya De Visch Eijbergen. Como en su debut en la jornada de ayer, el público ha acompañado a la local con aplausos y vítores. En cuartos de final, Marín se enfrentará a la jugadora tailandesa Phittayaporn Chaiwan, actual campeona del Iberdrola Internacional de Madrid 2019. Por otra parte, la jugadora del CAR de Sant Cugat Paula Molins caía derrotada ante la tailandesa Pornpawee Chochuwong [6].
El individual masculino más destacado de la jornada ha sido el que enfrentaba a los compañeros franceses Thomas Rouxel y Toma Junior Popov. Tras una hora y veinte minutos, Rouxel batía a Popov en esta primera vez que se enfrentan en un torneo internacional: 20-22, 21-16 y 21-13. Mientras tanto, el máximo favorito y actual campeón del torneo Viktor Axelsen se deshacía del francés Brice Leverdez en dos sets, siguiendo así hacia su pase a la final.
Uno de los partidos de la jornada que ha tenido en vilo hasta el último momento al público, ha sido el dobles masculino que enfrentaba a una de las parejas favoritas del torneo; Kim Astrup - Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (Dinamarca) contra los coreanos Kim Gi Jung- Lee Yong Dae, estrellas referentes del bádminton mundial. Tras más de una hora de partido, los daneses se llevaban la victoria en los últimos detalles del tercer set 21-19, 14-21 y 22-20. Muy disputado también el encuentro entre los cabezas de serie Lee Yang - Wang Chi-Lin (China Taipéi) y la pareja inglesa Ben Lane - Sean Vendy. Los de China Taipéi zanjaban el encuentro por 22-20 y 21-17.
En la modalidad de dobles femenino, las hermanas Stoeva - Stoeva, campeonas de Europa en Huelva 2018, debutaban ante las indias Ashwini Ponnappa - Reddy N. Sikki sentenciando su encuentro en dos sets. Uno de los encuentros más disputados de la jornada lo protagonizaban las malasias Chow Mei Kuan - Lee Meng Yean [4] y Vivian Hoo - Yap Cheng Wen. Finalmente, el encuentro se lo llevaban las cabezas de serie número 4 por 21-15, 12-21 y 21-16 ante sus compatriota.
En la modalidad de dobles mixtos, el dúo indio Pranaav Jerry Chopra - Reddy N. Sikki le plantaba cara a los cabeza de serie; los malasios Goh Soon Huat - Lai Shevon Jemie: 21-16, 17-21 y 21-11. Por su parte, Yang Po-Hsuan - Hu Ling Fang (China Taipéi) cortaban el pase a la siguiente ronda a los alemanes Mark Lamsfuss - Isabel Herttrich [7]: 11-21, 21-17 y 21-15.

El equipo arbitral del Barcelona Spain Masters
El equipo arbitral del Barcelona Spain Masters 2020 está compuesto de jueces árbitros y árbitros de pista. El staff arbitral de esta tercera edición del torneo consta de 19 profesionales nacionales e internacionales.
La competición está liderada por los 4 jueces árbitros provenientes de Suiza, Países Bajos, Portugal y España. Su función es controlar el buen desarrollo de la competición conforme a la normativa de la Badminton World Federation.
Además, la competición cuenta con 15 árbitros de pista provenientes de 12 nacionalidades y 3 continentes distintos (África, Asia y Europa). En un partido, su función es doble: por un lado son los encargados de controlar el encuentro; y por otro lado, como juez de servicio, el control del saque de los jugadores y apoyo al árbitro general. Cuentan también con la ayuda de los jueces de línea.
